I Can Not Shower for a Week, Charlize Theron Shares the Beauty Tricks She Swears By

Known for her stunning looks and timeless beauty, Charlize Theron has some beauty secrets up her sleeve. Just like all single moms, the award-winning actress doesn’t have much time for herself, and many of the beauty hacks she uses are budget-friendly and simple to follow.

She occasionally skips showers.

Although nothing feels better than a steamy shower after a long day, showering too often can actually dry out your skin, cause dandruff and make your hair look greasy. Theron admits she doesn’t think taking a shower every day is necessary, and can go several days without bathing. “I’m a tough girl and I can not shower for a week — I’m fine with that,” she said.

She never forgets to apply the sunscreen.

Wearing sunscreen is one of the healthiest things you can do for your beauty, because it helps your skin stay wrinkle-free for longer and keeps other signs of aging at bay. Theron is a busy mom, but she never leaves the house without her sunscreen.

“We wake up really early in my house—5:45 a.m. I’m a single mom trying to get two kids ready, pack the lunchboxes, and not miss the bus. When I wake up, I just rinse my face and put on sunscreen,” she shared.

She uses castor oil for her hair.

Although there’s no evidence that applying castor oil benefits your hair, many people claim using it makes their hair grow faster and look fuller. Theron believes that this easily affordable oil nourishes her hair and helps it look its best.

“Someone told me about it. I put it on my brows and scalp once or twice a week. It’s definitely made my hair thicker,” she said.

She prioritizes her nighttime skincare routine.

While it’s very important to remove your makeup before sleep, Theron admits she sometimes forgets about it. “You’re tired, you hit the sack, you wake up forgetting you didn’t wash your face the night before... I think we all do that once in a while,” she said.

As a single mother, the Oscar winner doesn’t have much time in the morning, and she tries to pamper her skin at night when she can. “I have really learned to take care of my skin at night, so the mornings really are often just a hot washcloth, brushing my teeth and putting sunblock on. I mean literally, that’s it. I can do a little more at night — it’s usually when the kids are asleep, and I have a bit more time to myself,” she shared.
